Frequently Asked Questions About Training

We get a number of people asking about our training program, so we have decided to give you our most commonly asked questions and answers.

01

How Long Does Training Last?

The workouts last between 2-6 hours, and a typical student will train for 3-6 months (on weekends) before having their first match. The length of time from beginning training to beginning match is entirely based upon the individual progress of each student.

02

What Kind Of Wrestling Do You Teach?

The best way to describe our style is a combination of the current televised wrestling product offered by WWE and TNA.

The camp is designed to teach all aspects of putting on entertaining matches: bumping, high spots, heat, comebacks, hot tags, brawling, holds, movement, selling, feeding, body language, psychology, and common logical sense to put it all together. We train with an emphasis on safety. Our camp is geared toward not only teaching our students the "how to" but also answering the "why" questions in building a contemporary match. We encourage our students to embrace their creativity with an unwavering focus on giving our ticket buying audience their money's worth.

03

How Much Will I Get Paid To Wrestle?

Like many of the questions about success in the wrestling business, the answer lies within the individual student and what they offer the promotion (charisma, look, promo ability, athleticism, attitude, etc). Many students starting out make little to nothing, due to the fact that their participation in shows may be considered a part of their training experience. Wrestlers who move onto different markets can substantially increase their income, especially those who work for a nationally televised promotion.

04

Am I Too Small/ Too Old To Wrestle?

Our door is open to anyone who has the desire to learn how to wrestle professionally, regardless of size or age. For those under the age of 18, we do need to consult with a parent before training.

05

What Do I Need To Do To Get In Shape For Wrestling?

Students of our camp shouldn't view the camp itself as a means to get in shape. We focus on learning and applying the wrestling craft. Students of the camp should not expect any needlessly painful chop drills, "Tough Enough" or boot camp style conditioning. It is our belief that it is the student's responsibility to work on their conditioning and physique on the days they are not at camp. There is a saying in this business "Nothing gets you in shape for wrestling like wrestling". Students who advance to actual matches can get a great cardio workout by wrestling consecutive matches. We don't condone the use of steroids to improve your physique, but we do encourage our students to workout and be in the best shape they can be in for two very important reasons:

1. Poor endurance can lead to poor wrestling performance. The abilities to think clearly in the ring and communicate are compromised when you become too tired.

2. Wrestling is a very competitive business. There are new wrestlers constantly entering the talent pool, competing for spots on the same shows. Having a good physique can help your chances of being booked more than your peers.

How Much Does It Cost To Train With IPW?

In the past, we have had specific dollar amounts and payment schedules as options. Going forward, we would like to work out payment plans on a case by case basis. We do offer referral, or "finder's fee" pay outs to people who help us find new students. We also offer fee reductions for students who join as a group, have prior experience, and/or outstanding ability. It is our goal to offer a training plan that fits your budget. We believe that our training system combined with the comfort of our new training center is a great value to our students.
